This summer we did lots of fun things. I didn't really blog about any of them though, because I was more apt to spend my time DOING fun things than I was to WRITE about fun things. But now that we are back in school times for my Christoph, I am going to write about the fun things we did this summer. Mostly just to remind myself that we are allowed to have fun, and that school doesn't last forever. Also, to make everyone jeal of my awesome summer.
One of the things that happened early in the summer was the Jespersens coming to visit. Last school year, my family had a foreign exchange student from Denmark. He is awesome and we loved having him around. He went back home when school ended at the end of May, but we saw him again just a couple of weeks later when he came back with his family. It was SO awesome to meet them and spend time with them, but in a way it was even more sad, because when they left again, we weren't just saying goodbye to Christian, we had to say goodbye to all of them. They were so great, and we will definitely see them again sometime.
This is Soren, Amanda, Christian, and Dorthe (Dorothy). Believe it or not, Dorothy is Christian's MOTHER. Not his older sister.
They were all so cute and it was awesome to spend time with them. We went out to dinner up at Sundance (fancy) and had such a great time talking and getting to know them.
Then the next night my family hosted a party for everyone who had met Christian during his time in Provo. It was so much fun. J Dawgs catered, and the Jespersens brought and made Danish treats for dessert. It seemed like everyone from my parents' ward came, lots of his Provo High friends, and our extended family. It was a lot of fun and just so cool to see how many people met and cared about Christian in his year at Provo High. His family thought so too.
Around that same time in the summer, we had a yard sale. I didn't take any pictures of it, but I should have, because Chris and I rigged up a pretty impressive rod to hang all the clothes on. I don't know that anything super notable took place, but I will give you a couple of tidbits: We bought tamales from someone down the street and they were DELICIOUS. We sold Chris's original Nintendo and some games for it to a very excited kid about our age and his fiancee, who finally made the purchase after a lot of waffling and even leaving the premises, but then drove back to get it. I talked some non-English speakers out of buying one of our DVDs that only works in England, because I wasn't sure how to explain to them that you can change the region settings for DVDs on Windows Media Player and watch it on your laptop, but other then that you're out of luck. Double D stopped by on his scooter.
And oh my gosh, what am I saying, nothing big happened? The most incredible, "Oh, Erin," sort of story happened that day. So we sold stuff, then took the rest to DI. But Chris had some stuff that if it didn't sell, he wanted to keep. So I should have put that stuff aside and not taken it to DI . . . . but I didn't. It totally got taken. When I told him, he seemed so genuinely sad about it that I was like, "ok, we will just go there and find it!" Chris rarely asks for things or feels strongly about things, so when he does, I like to fulfill his wishes. Anyway, we actually went to DI and sorted through huge racks full of junk, but to no avail. We couldn't find our stuff anywhere. They were so nice to let us look, though. Real stand up peeps at the DI. Later that day, Chris inspected a mysterious bag in the living room, and it contained--the stuff. I HADN'T taken it to DI! Miracle of miracles! It really was so funny and just the sort of thing I would do.

Erin, I can totally hear your voice and picture all of your hand gestures and facial expressions in your blog. And it makes me miss you. Plus my child is wearing the dress you got her right now.
Hey! Love your blog. I'm glad Double D stopped by the yard sale. Yard sales are just awesome. I am glad you had a fun summer. What are you up to now? Let's talk sometime soon. If you are interested in making stuff for Beehive Bazaar let me know. Maybe we can share a booth? I just like you.
i love these stories. I love that tons of peeps came to the party and I love that DD was there on his scooter at your sale, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the DI event. A-mazing.
