Whatevs. I'll blog in September when Chris is in school.
The point is, I wanted to jot down a little something about my day.
I just returned back to work from the post office. I LOVE going to the post office, anyway (and that sounds sarcastic, because it's a place most people hate, but really. I LOVE going there. The envelopes and the paper and the stamps! It's incredible), but today was especially enjoyable.
First of all, the cute lady in line behind me complimented me on my skirt and asked where it was from. She was probably close to 60, stylishly dressed, slim, and just had a look in her eyes like she was a smart, fun, interesting lady. I want her to be my best friend. Anyway, I told her I bought it on eBay for $10, but that it's from Anthropologie, and we talked about trying to score things from Anthropologie for cheaper. She asked me some questions about eBaying them, and we wondered together whether Amazon might be a good place to do the same thing. I told her I hadn't really done it for the last couple years, and she asked why. I told her it's because I'm married and don't have as much money for clothes as when I was single. She told me about how she was up at Anthropologie yesterday and had to drag herself away from a gorgeous coat because of the $288 price tag. I told her about the one I had just been gazing at online yesterday, and she responded that it sounded like I should have it. Then it was my turn at the counter, so away I went.
The woman at the counter chatted with me about Brazil. Apparently the guy ahead of me in line lives in Utah mostly, but has an apartment in Rio. She asked him if he would rent it to her so she could visit Brazil, because she would love to see the world, but it's so expensive to get somewhere, and then once you're there you spend $200 a night on a hotel. She said she was honest and clean and would be a perfect person to rent to. I was also told about her nephew who goes to Curitiba all the time, and how Curitiba has the best bus system in the whole world, and that it's one of the safest cities in the world. Who knew? I just knew they had a temple and that my friend Phil served his mission there. I received an in-depth explanation of how Express Mail works if you're sending something to a PO Box, and I was genuinely interested, if not a tiny bit concerned that the people behind me in line were getting antsy. She also told me that to send a UPS overnight package costs $45, and that I was making the right choice for sending it through the postal service. That isn't true for our office (or possibly at all, but whatevs), because we have a UPS account, I think it costs more like $7 (and we definitely would have sent it UPS but they don't deliver to PO Boxes), but that's fine. I really admired her USPS pride, you know?
The point is, I had a wonderful little errand that took me away from my office and my desk so that I could interact with actual human beings, both of whom were incredible delightful. I wanted to take off to Yogurtland with those ladies and chat for hours, because I promise, we could have.

I like when you blog.
I like going to the post office if it's not too busy. I don't like waiting in line trying to keep David from running away and touching everything. And you for sure see some interesting people there.
And I love that coat. I think you should own it as well.
I have MISSED your posts!! So glad you're still alive!
I have missed your blog posts....This was wonderful! I love meeting kindred spirits randomly like this :)
i hate going to the post office, mostly because it counts as a "real errand" and i hate running real errands (like going to the bank to deposit your check or going to the gas station to fill up your gas). but i love having old people best friends.
I read this when you posted it. but that was like a year ago. remember how you have a blog?
