So, it's been almost a week now, but I wanted to declare my love for Harry Potter, and specifically for Deathly Hallows Part Uno. I really loved it. It's been my favorite movie so far.
I was going to read the book right before, but Chris talked me out of it, reminding me how much I hated the 6th movie for that very reason. So I didn't, and I am glad.
Because here's the thing--books are better than movies. Always. So it's no use going to a movie and being upset that it's not just like the book, or as GOOD as the book, because it won't be. Also, movies are movies and books are books. They are completely different mediums. (PS, this does not mean I am okay with the scene at the top of the tower in the 6th movie, because that was SUCH a departure from the book that it completely changed the whole meaning of that scene. But whatevs.)
For the most part, I thought it was great. Also, I think they're all better actors than they used to be. And Ron is kind of cute, where did that come from?
And really, I didn't think the differences from the book were all that huge. Not enough to make me upset or mad. Some of them I wouldn't have even remembered, but the Shellster had just read it and she was sitting next to me. Which was super handy, because sometimes I had questions about specifics and she could answer them. Thanks girl.
So there you go. I love Harry Potter. Everything about it. And the movie. And the theater we went to. Good heavens, it was awesome! I couldn't stop talking about it, and how nice it was to not have to look for a seat or go early to wait in line and all that jazz! I loved it.
Also I love Thanksgiving Break. Chris is so relaxed without that homework business, it's awesome. Also my birthday is in 17 days. (25. It might as well be 50 for how I feel about it.) So you should probably all plan for that and get me some presents, kay thanks.

Erin, I love you. I totally agree with you on this HP thing- every word. That's totally how I feel! LOVED THE MOVIE! LOVED THE BOOKS! Was very disappointed in the end of #6. Also, what day is your birthday? Mine is December 5th and I am so with you on this whole 25 thing. AHHH! I really don't want to be 25, blech. How can we get ourselves mrore excited for this impending doom? :)
I have a big fat crush on Ron Weasley. I am actually about to go see it again with the fam in an hour so HOLLAH!
Also, I'm glad I read the book right before because I want my Harry Potter memories to come from the books and not from the movies. So I had to refresh the ol' noggin on book facts rather than movie stuffs.
I agree that the movie stayed close to the book. I also feel like people who haven't read the books won't really understand the movie. There is just too much stuff going on for the movie to be able to portray it all.
Also, the big nude scene that everyone was so hyped up about wasn't that big of a deal. My mom told me it was because I have become desensitized to nudity, and well, she might have a point. That makes me sound like a sicky. I'm not, WE as a GENERATION have become desensitized.
To sum it all up, Harry Potter is great. It's real. It's real because the emotions are real. JK Rowling is a creative genius and I tip my hat to her.
I agree!! I was very pleasantly pleased with how well they followed the book this time around- to the point that they actually wandered in the wilderness for 150 pages just like in the book :) All I can say is that the second one will be even more fantastic!
Also I love Shelly's comment and agree with everything she said. Harry Potter IS real. (and twilight isn't)
i haven't seen it yet. but i feel that i must. which means I must watch all the other movies too. haha.
you're cute. i like your blog.
also, James is more relaxed without homework as well - isn't it sooo nice to have a hub to just hang out with and not have to worry about anything? it is.
happy birthday soon. 25 isn't so bad. i mean, I'm not 25 but when I am, I don't think it'll be dooms day ... but maybe I'm just too young to understand how you feel - afterall, I'm only 23 ;o)
25 isn't so bad, but I still feel old. But I have been married longer and have two kids already. So maybe that's what makes me feel old.
I still haven't seen HP. I was thinking I would like to read it before I go, but maybe I shouldn't so I'm not disappointed. We'll see if I have time.
Thank you Erin for thinking that Ron got cute out of nowhere. I literally turned to Addison, during the movie, and said "Wow, Ron's kinda hot."
Also, it's nice to know that there is a friend out there that feels the same way that I do about turning 25. I've already said that I'll have a mid-life crisis at 25, 30, 40, and 50 and for everyone to be prepared. Because, let's face it, 25 sounds way to close to 30. eewww. anywho, I love you. I love your blog. You make me smile.
Somehow, I must convince my guy that we need to see this movie. Somehow.
i completely agree with your thoughts on movie 6 and 7 pt1. it's nice to hear someone else talk about harry potter, because steve could care less and sometimes that makes me sad. especially when i'm all excited and he's all "....." :)
