These are the things I am thankful for:
That I don't really care that I haven't blogged anything about Thanksgiving. I'm going to anyway, right now, but I feel no blog pressure, is what I'm trying to say. I really love that I can say whatever whenever on here, and then it's on the internet. It's pretty cool.
That my Thanksgiving was so fun. We went to New Harmony, Utah and stayed with Chris's aunt and uncle, who are some of my favorite people in the world. I spent Thanksgiving day sleeping in, eating carmel pecan rolls for breakfast, and saying goodbye to the boys who had to go move a staircase. Seriously. Meanwhile my sister in law Trinity, Chris's aunt Connie and I hung out and did the following: Looked at a cookbook of cookies and discussed which ones we'd like to eat, played with kitties, got ready for Thanksgiving dinner while watching the kitties out the window, listened to the Little Women soundtrack, and had a good talk. It was so great. I was so happy to be a girl and not have to be involved with the staircase moving. And I really did love being at Connie's house. She let us help with dinner without being commanding, and it was so non-awkward that way.
We had dinner over at Chris's grandparents' house, and everything was delicious. All the classic Thanksgiving foods were present, and it was great. His grandpa told some awesome stories about the war and the LAPD, both of which he was a part of. It was the most animated I'd ever seen him. He's sort of scary and doesn't usually talk very much. But he told lots of stories and laughed and stuff. I played a lot with Chris's cousin's daughter, who is 3 years old with curly ringlets and a tiny bit of a lisp. She is so cute.
That I got to have another Thanksgiving when we got home. Sadly, Chris didn't, because he had to work, but you know. Last Saturday we had a gathering of my mom's side of the fam at my parents' house. It was a soup party, and I had amazing chili and homemade chicken noodle, and delicious bread to go with it. My fam is so fun and I love all my cousins so much. I love that my mom came from a big family, because it means WE have a big family! There were like 25 people there, and I remember thinking, "Man, it's too bad not that many people could come." There was pumpkin pie and chocolate cake and ice cream and cookies and all of it was good. The football game was also good, until the last second--literally. But really, that was an incredible game to watch. I hope the Utah team all thanked their lucky stars. Because they sure are a lucky team.
That my life is so luxurious. I was thinking about it the other day while I was in the shower. I love the shower. And I thought about how many people on this earth don't have showers. Have NEVER had a shower. I just can't even believe how blessed I am to be able to turn a knob and have hot water pour on my body. It is the most amazing feeling. And not only that, but I have a car with a heater (and AC, when the season requires it), and a house with a heater (also with AC), and a bed, and a whole bunch of clothes, and internet access, and a cell phone, and 2 laptops in my house, and a shelf full of books and movies to entertain and educate me, and enough food. These are things most people in this country see as the basic necessities. But really, they're not. They're luxury items. I also have a Chris. He is a luxury item as well.
