BIG announcement!

I don’t like private blogs.

I don’t like that I have to be sure to sign into my email before I can check them.

I don’t like that when I see a link to someone I know from high school on someone else’s blog, I get excited to see what they’re up to, click on it, only to find out that it’s private and I can’t see it.

I don’t like that when you come across one that’s private and you want to read, there’s not some sort of “click here if you want to be invited to this blog” option. I don’t have the email address of every person I’ve ever met, you know?

I don’t like when there’s a blog I’ve been blurking at (blog-lurking) (I’m not sure where I saw that phrase, but I love it) that suddenly goes private and I’m too embarrassed to request an invitation because I’m not a close friend or a commenter, just a blurker.


All this being said, sometimes a series of unfortunate events makes you consider making your blog private. And then you consider it a couple more times. And then you start to really feel like that might be the best thing to do. And then your husband tells you that you really need to make your blog private.

So you do. It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I am going to privatize (like health care!)my blog.

I never thought I would do this, but here we are.

So, you know the drill. Leave your email in a comment and I’ll send you an invitation.

I really am sorry. I know it’s an annoying thing.

But since I’ve made the decision, I’ve started to see all the positives of this. This blog will really turn into more of a journal for me. I’ll feel okay about being less vague and more specific about details because I’m not worried about creeps. I will be able to bare my soul and tell the most appalling secrets (you get a prize if you can tell me where that quote is from).

I also decided I would try to be like a cool girl. You know, the kind of girl who’s like, whatever, if people want to read my blog, they’ll come whether it’s private or not. And anyway, I don’t write for other people, I write for me. The truth is though, that part of what I write IS for you peeps—I like to write things that I think my friends will like. So please keep coming even though you’ll have to sign in first.

Also, and I cannot stress this enough—if you read this blog and have never commented, and don’t want me to know that you read it, but wish you could continue lurking—PLEASE leave your email and let me invite you. I love sharing my thoughts with my friends, I love the comments people leave, and I really really LOVE lurking on other people’s blogs without commenting. I wouldn’t want to deny you that same pleasure just because I will be private. Don’t be embarrassed, we’ll pretend like it never happened, and you can keep on reading and not commenting. Ok? Ok. (And, chances are, I read your blog all the time but never comment.)

This change will take place on October 10th. So even those of you who visit We Got Married So Now We Have a Blog infrequently should have enough time to give me your email.

And in true Erin style, where most people say: “I’m going private! Leave your email!” I had to write a whole big thing explaining it all. See, I’m still the same, even though my blog will be private.
