Last night I went to a movie with my mom. It was Hood to Coast, a movie about a relay in Oregon that goes from Mt. Hood to the coast--imagine that. It started in 1983, and inspired tons of similar relays around the country, including Ragnar that we all know and love. It was a great movie and got me excited to do the Wasatch Back this summer.
After the movie I was driving home from my parents' house, just listening to FM 100 like I do, when the radio man started talking about some contest. I wasn't really paying attention to what it was about, but then the guy said something about basking in warmth, and then announced the phone numbers to call, and suddenly I had to call.
Now, let it be known that I have never called a radio station in my life. (Except for when my friends and I used to try and call Delilah and tell her we were having Girls Night because she said so.) But for some reason I was so compelled to call. I called the 470, the 570, and the 670 numbers--all busy. Then I called one of them again, and a guy answered and said,
"FM 100, you're the 10th caller!"
"Wait, isn't that what you had to be to win?"
"Yes!"
"What?"
"What's your name?"
"Erin."
(Then he got all my contact info, phone number, address, blah blah blah.)
When he finished asking me all the questions, I was like, "Ok, so what just happened? I won?"
And the guy said, "Yeah, you won passes to Lava Hot Springs. We're putting them in the mail to you."
And I went, "This is incredible. I have never called the radio before!"
He said, "Well, this is your lucky night! See ya."
And we hung up.
Then I went home and told Chris and we both just kept cracking up and saying, WHAT? Because it was just really nuts. Anyway, we have passes to Lava Hot Springs (whatever that is) on their way!
PS, because I know you're all curious--
I finally got around to actually looking up Lava Hot Springs. Turns out it's in Idaho, about 3 hours away. Hopefully these passes don't expire anytime soon, because I don't think I want to drive to Idaho to get warm. That just doesn't make any sense. We'll wait until the spring. Plus also there is a big water park situation. WOO!
