Peeps, I can't keep this to myself any longer. Here's the thing. I LOVE NPR. I have for a long time. It started a few years ago when I was still working at my blessed campus job. I would listen to NPR while I worked. Their website is great, you can just pick stories and add them to a playlist, so sometimes I would add things that were like a week's worth of work, and they would just sit there, waiting for me to come back.
I love Robert Siegel, and Mee-shell Norris, I REALLY love Terry Gross, and I can never get over Diane Rehm's voice.
I still love all these peeps, but for the last year-ish, my favorite NPR show has been This American Life.
I love it. It's always interesting, and they have good music to accompany it. I walk to work in the mornings, and it takes me about 20 minutes. This American Life episodes are almost exactly one hour long, so I can usually listen to one over the course of 3 days. It's an awesome part of my day to plug into Ira Glass. (Plus also they are FREE podcasts. Who doesn't love free podcasts? I know I love them.)
After I listen to an episode I usually end up thinking about it for a few days, and loving how awesome it was. Sometimes I tell Char about it, but most of the time I don't say anything to anyone, I just ponder and go over it in my head and enjoy it.
However, the last one I listened to was so insane, and so well done, I thought it selfish to keep this love of mine to myself any longer.
Here's the episode from their website. You can listen to the whole thing for free, or, like I said, download it on iTunes for free.
Also, I realize I'm not the only person who knows about/loves this show. It's popular. But I am so in love with it at the moment that I felt the need to shout it from the rooftops of this blog. So there's my disclaimer, in case any of you were about to call me a wannabe hipster who thinks I know about everything first. I don't think that. And I don't wannabe a hipster. Like, at all. I hate going to Urban Outfitters, and it would be so exhausting to keep up on which thing you're supposed to love ironically next, you know?
Also, if anyone heard that episode or listens to it now because I told you, tell me, and let's have a discussion about it in the comments. Please?

I also discovered This America Life when I worked at my own wonderful on-campus job. I went a couple years without listening to it because I didn't have those blocks of time to do so, but now I commute so I listen to it again. I love that we are the same. So I tried to share the greatness with my roommate and I swear she listened to like 30 seconds of one episode and was like "It's not that great. It's kinda weird. It's boring." or at least one of those phrases with the other two implied. A-NNOYING.
ahhh we're the same. i.am.obsessed. and that one you highlighted-crazy! i mean, a maintenance worker of all people? how random but powerful.

I listen to it toooooo!! Glad I'm not the only nerd out there. Do you also watch the History channel? Please say yes....
