Liz Lemon Swindle

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE the fact that Tina Fey’s name on 30 Rock is Liz Lemon?

I love it.

For one, it sounds cool.

And for another, it makes me think of Liz Lemon Swindle. In my mind, Sister Swindle is super ticked about all this. Because if your name is, say, Sarah Jessica Parker, and someone on a TV show is named Sarah Jessica, you’re going to assume that they know about you and realize that they are using your name. Because if your name is, say, Sarah Jessica Parker, you are famous.

But say your name is Liz Lemon Swindle. You are (sort of) famous too, except only in a small geographic and/or cultural location. I’m going to take a wild guess that Tina Fey and co. don’t know about Swindle. And my other wild guess and/or wildest dream is that L.L.S. now realizes that she’s not quite as famous as she thought she might be.

And that makes my day.

(And yes, probably in reality, Liz Lemon Swindle is perfectly lovely and thinks 30 Rock is really funny, and thinks it’s super funny that her name is in the show. But that doesn’t change the fact that she paints crappy paintings and makes money off shoving Joseph Smith’s fake emotions in people’s faces while they shop innocently at Deseret Book, so let me have a dream, ok? )

Oh my gosh I love your opinion of Liz Lemon Swindle's paintings. One day you explained her work to me and I must say that you have a very valid point.

There are so many reasons we are friends and this post is just one of them. And I can see Shelly concurs. I love you both. I have to say, and hopefully I don't burn for this but her work that has Jesus in it, leaves me with an unsettled feeling. And this next statement I'll most certainly burn for....he looks creepy and a little like someone who may or may not be arrested now a days for always hanging out with children....I can already feel my skin blistering from the heat. I better stop....

Ha ha, I should have Jacob read this post, he likes 30 Rock and also dislikes a lot of Deseret Book type art :) p.s. I like the name of your blog, it's so true.

I didn't know who this woman was, until you said "shoving joseph smith's fake emotions..." and then I knew EXACTLY who you were talking about. I googled it just to make sure I was right, and I was.

by the way, um...nevermind. I will e-mail it to you. :o)

Thank you. Thank you. There's just something that's not right about the characteristics on the people's faces, besides the emotion-shoving. Gag. I just don't understand what people like about her work.

bahahahaha.... I've always given Liz Lemon Swindle a break, because a friend of the family owns the picture of Mary holding baby Jesus and I loved looking at it growing up... but you are totally right. Love you, very very much :)
