Just for Allie! With Pictures! About Disneyland!

My dear Allie has requested that I blog some pictures. So, Allie baby, this is for you. And also for my someday real babies, so they know we did really awesome stuff before they came along and used up all our time and money. Thanks a lot, kids.

Christoph and I recently went to California to visit his fam, and while we were there, we took our first trip to Disneyland as a couple. It was magical, of course. And also we took some pictures. Do you care to see them?

Oh, ok.

We took the obligatory pic in front of the Mickey flowers, of course.
Oh, and I believe this is the blog’s first introduction to Chris’s beard! Well, there it is—isn’t it great? I think Chris wears a beard well. You’ll see more of it later, and you’ll like it.

Turns out Captain Eo is back! And now it's called a Tribute! Not that I ever saw it the first time around (too young) (also not from California, didn't go to Disneyland every day like some people), but I had heard of it. And oh my goodness is it an amazing show. I LOVED it. MJ in 3D is really really great. Also, are you really jealous of my camera skillz? I knew it. If you want me to do a tutorial about how to get great pictures of your husband in a dark space with a lit-up Michael Jackson, just let me know.

Ah, Space Mountain. I think I would gladly wait in line for reals (no fast pass) for Space Mountain. Now that is devotion. And I also love taking pictures of the picture, because who the heck wants to buy a picture of themselves on a rollercoaster for $67? And for those of you who don’t know Ryan and Trinity, Chris’s brother and his wife, they’re the peeps in front of us. So there you go.

Matterhorn. We’re still trying to train Chris to make normal faces in pictures. It’s a long process. (And yes, my eyes are closed, but that was inadvertent, so it doesn’t count.) This was waiting for the Monorail, which amazingly, I had never been on, and even more amazingly, feels exactly like a Birail. (Dualrail? Dirail?)

Autopia. I’m really ladylike, so I let Chris drive while I took pictures. And then sometimes I drove too, you know.

I kept trying to get pictures of Ryan and Trinity, but over the roar of the motors and the smell of the gas they could never hear me. I did snap this though.

The Jungle Cruise was really scary/shocking/awesome for Chris.

But Ryan and Trinity were just cute, not scared.

The Haunted Mansion was a different story, however. Both of us were pretty nervous about that.

Thunder Mountain was one of the only rides we actually waited for without a fast pass. Chris and Ryan were not impressed by the line.

And here we are on Thunder Mountain! The wildest ride in the wilderness!
So, all day at Disneyland, I kept thinking I heard people say my name. And of course I would look in that direction, which is silly, since you’re not going to run into someone you know at Disneyland. But—one time I thought I heard someone say, “Is that Erin?” and they actually WERE saying that, and it was Kristin and Cameron! It was so nuts!

Me and Kristin. Trinity said she thought a fight broke out, because all she heard was, “Is that Erin?” and next thing she knew I was leaping (she thought furiously) into some girl’s arms.

Me and Mr. Toad. He’s pretty wild.

Chris and Ryan showing how manly they are. First of all, they are NOT enjoying Storybook land, and sat here instead of perusing the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boo-tique. Second of all they are keeping a manly distance from one another. Also, BEARD.

The other obligatory Disneyland pics, the castle. We chose this time of day specifically for the great lighting. Don’t these look perfect? I told you I'm super professional when it comes to matters of photography.
Matterhorn. Not sure what’s happening. I think I’m being scared and Chris is being the monster? . . . Also, the Matterhorn hurts your body.
I really, really love Small World. Trinity said she thinks Small World is prettier than the castle, and I think I agree. I had never realized before how many international nods there were in the architecture. There’s an Eiffel Tower, a pagoda, a leaning tower of Pisa, an onion dome, and I’m sure some other things I didn’t notice/don't have the knowledge to identify.
Chris and his beard went on Small World as well. And apparently that’s where my picture taking stopped, but that is NOT where the fun stopped, peeps! We also ate chimichangas from a booth near the Matterhorn that also sells Turkey legs for $8.00 and fed bits of them to the super aggressive teenage ducks living there.
We waited in line for Splash Mountain until it broke down and everyone got out of line. Bummer. But that is my least favorite of the mountains, so I didn’t mind too much. We ALSO ate at the Blue Bayou for lunch! That’s the restaurant inside Pirates of the Caribbean, and it was really good. The gumbo was fantastic, I had delicious roasted chicken for my meal, and we had crème brulee with berries for dessert. It was all amazing. I just didn’t take any pictures.
And I told Chris beforehand that I would not leave the park until I saw the fireworks, and he honored that demand. I love the fireworks. They are Disney magic. They are.
Well, here we are at the end. I'm exhausted from all the spectacular photographs, and also I remembered why I usually just type down silly stuff on my mind--moving around all the pictures in Blogger takes forevs! Jeez Louise. Also, there should be spaces between all of these paragraphs, but I'm not going to try and make it happen 3 times. I only try 2 times.
But there you go. We went to Disneyland and it was really really great.

I don't know if I've ever seen Chris with a beard.

And now I really want to go to Disneyland. Actually, I already really wanted to go. I want to take David. I think he would love it. But now I really REALLY want to go. So thank you. :)

I loved the part you wrote about the fireworks. I don't know why, but I was like, "This is Erin. And this is why I love this girl!"

I haven't been to Disneyland since 5th grade. Yeah, I know. But it looks like y'all had a great time. I guess guys with beards are more fun. (never heard that before? it's cause I made it up)
