Internet friends,
I feel like I am in a musical slump. I am excited by nothing. Even Paper Planes has lost its zest, which was my go-to song for a long time. That John Mayer song with Taylor Swift is good, and we listened to some ABBA last night while getting ready for bed, but aside from that I'm pretty underwhelmed.
Will everyone please give me a song or several to listen to? I need some new stuff.

hmmm. Do you want songs that are like A-mazing for a second, and then you're done with them? I have loads of those. And they are good if you let them serve their purpose and expect nothing more.
Or do you want music that has an aquired taste? I also have loads of that.
Country music. You either love it or you hate it. are you a lover or a hater?
once I have this information I will be able to better serve your request. :o)

it's funny to me.
Becca, I agree, you needed more information from me.
I really like just amazing songs. Like, I really love Party in the USA, and that doesn't mean now I like Miley Cyrus, because I don't really know any of her other songs that well, but I really like it. So, to answer the question, yes, I would love songs that are amazing for a second.
And I respectfully disagree about the polarization of country music. I do not love it, but I like it ok. I don't listen to it, but it's not that I hate it, I jsut don't really care about it that much. But the occasional country song is fine. A lot of it has to do with me rejecting things that dictate my emotions, but that's a whole big long story.
My favorite music is stuff like James Taylor and Norah Jones and John Mayer and Feist and Regina Spektor. So that gives you an idea.
ERIN.
Remember how Blair made you a CD for Christmas and then we forgot it? We need to get it to you ASAP. You'll love it.
Erin, two boys at my work are always suggesting new bands to me. One I like is called Vampire Weekend. Try listening to their songs called A-punk and M79. Both good ones. One that I haven't listened to much is called Passion Pit. Try that out and see how it goes. Another one that is more 80's ish but I like is called MGMT. So there are three new options that you might want to check out.
Oops I did it again by Britney Spears.
Okay...this is an area in which I excel, mainly because I hate music slumps.
Passion Pit--one of my new faves that I could listen to 24/7 and, in fact, do
My beloved Imogen Heap. I can't get enough of her. Also when she was Frou Frou. Just the name alone will make you listen.
Phoenix is emerging big time and keeps coming up with bigger and better.
Architecture in Helsinki--love them.

If that doesn't give you something that will tickle your ear and strike your fancy, you may need REAL help. :)
Okay, I am freaking out right now with laughter because i LOVE the Paper Planes song!!!!!!!! That is my go to song at the end of all of my runs!!!! There is something about it that makes me run harder and I was embarrassed for awhile about the song because I listened to the words one time and laughed. I feel like we now share a special bond (Even more then we already did!) Love ya!
Shelly's suggestions all get seconded by me.
Also: Miles Kurosky. Islands (or Unicorns, or Human Highway. They're all Nick Thorburn and they're all incredible). De Novo Dahl. Or if you're okay with older stuff...have you given Pavement a chance yet?
read my blog. i am currently in the middle of a serious love affair with gregory alan isakov, who I drove to see in d.c. this weekend. he's lovely. the music was a combo of bob dylan, johnny cash, the decemberists, and david grey. what could be better? oh, and one of the other guys who performed is named ramaya soskin. look him up on myspace and listen to "heartbreaker." AWESOME!
I could listen to Baby by Justin Beiber (spelling?) all day.
