Take that, Yu-Na Kim!

Maybe you've heard about this thing going on in Canada right now. Something about winter sports and aborigines and some white guy who is good at snowboarding, I'm not really sure of the details.

But in the spirit of the games, I wanted to share with you a little ice skating video of my own. Some of you probably didn't know that I was a professional ice skater, but I was, once upon a time. Char and I made a great team. She was the graceful one who had pretty costumes and looked good, and I was the shorter, more outrageously outfitted part of the duo, but we made magic when we skated together. Plus our lipstick matched, and that really is the most important part of a duo, is it not?

This video is from our best-known performance ever, the infamous 2004 event when my parents decided to get the wood floors of their home refinished. This required moving all the furniture out of the rooms, presenting Team Tanner with the perfect rink. We set the cameras rolling and just went for it. Believe it or not, didn't even choreograph this, we just skated with our gut feelings, knowing they would be in sync, as sister guts are wont to do.

So here we are, in all our glory, Svetlana and Ima (stage names, you know).

Pretty great, right? Oh? What? You want to know what the judges thought of our performance? Well, here you are, my friends!

And of course, we had to have an interview afterward. Here we are talking to the famous sportscaster Jordan Tanner, with his pre-puberty voice. (If you're interested in hearing more of the pre-puberty Jordan Tanner voice, just call his cell phone when you know he's in class. It can still be heard on his answering machine, and it is still funny.)

Also, I am not kidding, we came up with this on the spot. Where Char pulled out the "You Believe" thing from I do not know, but it was pure magic. I watched my face when she says it and remembered how I started racking my brain for something to follow with, because it was so genius. And also trying not to laugh.

This is one of those moments when I watch something and believe the minds behind it to be pure genius. If you do the math and work out all the equations, that means you area a GENIUS!! Thanks for the laugh and I'll look forawrd to seeing you in future Olympics....in Russia. :)

I wish that we had that magical Newsies moment on tape. I think you know the one I'm referring too? Also, how do you have these? On the computer? Also, was that Joe? Or Ben?

Oh, and seriously, when I watch my face when you say, "she says 2 words: You Believe," I can tell that I'm freaking out because what you just said was so awesome and I was racking my brain to come up with something to follow it.

Oh, the Newsies moment. That was unbelievable.

And yeah, we took this video with my camera, so I just have a folder of pictures called "Erin and Char Ice Skating" with all our head shots and stills from the performance. They're on my jump drive, so if you want to bring your laptop home with you someday, I can def hook you up.

And that was Joe. A 9 year old version of him. Right? It had to have been Joe. Ben would have been like 6 at the time.

When I started the video I expected to see little kids. I thought, Erin's parents had really good taste in their home decor for people in the 80's... then, to my delight I saw how old you were! I almost started sobbing (Erin, you know what I mean!) By the way, when Charles and Chris finish school can we please be neighbors?

I think the most amazing part was how I expected you to be little girls and then all of a sudden, there is Char, in all her womaness. Then I thought, of course they are doing this as ladies.

How do you be so hilarious? Come back to work. It's nothing but emo-Cali music and skinny jeans. On men.

(Not entirely true, but I sure love you)
