I really wish they would take me off the mailing list

So I still get emails from BYU's Art History Department. I don't usually read them, because they're about things like scholarships, and apparently they don't just hand out that money to people who already graduated. Weird.

But occasionally I do look at them and think, "Oh, you lucky students! Enjoy this academic sojourn!" because they are about things like lectures or opening socials and such.

I got one such email today that made me jealous of those lucky students still enjoying the Art History Department.

It included this flyer:

If it's too small to read, let me tell you.

They have a field trip to LA, and they are visiting the LA County Museum of Art, The Getty, The Getty Villa, The Norton Simon, the Gamble House, "and much more."

Cost: $415.

What that includes: AIRFARE, hotels, transportation, and museum admission.

ARE YOU JEALOUS? I am.

Also, I am fully aware that some of you are reading this and thinking, "Erin, you are a brat. You went to Europe for 7 weeks on a BYU Art History study abroad." Do not worry, I am thinking the exact same thing.

I just really love trips, and would have loved to take off on one with Art History friends in the middle of Winter Semester, which really gets unbearable right around the time this trip is scheduled, which is the beginning of March.

Don't worry about me, Art History comrades. I'll just be working full time, probably while a snowstorm rages outside, while you're gallivanting around the Getty Villa pretending you're Pauline Borghese or something.

Anyway, that just sounds really fun, and I'm glad they're doing stuff like this, I would have loved that.

And I might send an email to the department secretary asking her to take me off the mailing list. I never would have known about this otherwise. If you think about it, it's her fault that I've fallen victim to one of the deadly sins.

I covet this too!

seriously, I had a trip planned to europe for May 2007 with a study abroud with BYU-Idaho. Betty Jo and I were gonna go together and I LOOOOVE traveling and I was getting into the art history stuff...

so I came home for the summer in 06 planning to earn LOTS of money to save for said trip. and that's when I met James.

that money purchased a wedding ring for him plus other unmentionables for me. married April 2007 instead.

of course I love where I am at. but I still would LOVE to travel to places and see things. I hate when I hear single kids complaining about not being married -- I always tell them to enjoy the stage they are in. travel. play. get lots of education. do a lot of new things. not that it's impossible for me to do said things...but it almost is now with 2 kids. ha.

"Adventure is out there!" -UP...the movie currently playing at my house. :o)

I WOULD LOVE THAT.

Also, I just had a dream about being on a trip with you. It was me, you, Blair, Chris, and some Mecklenburg siblings that don't exist. And for some reason me and Blair had mom's car, and our car was at our family's house. And we were getting ready to drive home from our trip and you were like "well, you're driving home like to our Provo house, right?" And I was like "I think we'll just keep mom's car and switch in a few days when we're down there again" and you got TICKED. You were like "I am disgusted with you. You get a new car and all you can do is complain. Do you even like your car? I never even hear you talking about it?" and then I got way mad and was like "HOW DARE YOU. I send Dad a text message every single day telling him how much I love our car." And then I brought up your Art HIstory degree (aka BFA) and was like "Do you even LIKE art history? Because you never even talk about it!" And then you got mad and were like "I can't believe you. You KNOW I love art history." And Blair and Chris and the other made up brothers were just like running around scaring birds while we were fighting. It was way weird and funny.

Anyways.

Love you love you

while you're at it, you might as well tell the secretary that her flyer is against the honor code. bikini-clad ladies schmoozin' on a boat? i don't think cecil would approve.

Cierra, please. Art History classes are full of reclining ladies schmoozing on chaise lounges and such. And they are clad in NOTHING. It's a pretty bad-a major.

I've asked to be taken off the PDBIO list like 5 times. For reals. So it might just do you no good and make you mad.

Yeah, they finally took me off the Art History email list like 4 months after I asked them. I was sad to be uninformed about their events and such, but it was for the best. Now I can try to be satisfied with the events the Geography Club puts on. Bleh.

Hmm...bikinis in February. Can't say that I've done it, but there could always be that first time. My mom took off with my aunt to Hawaii today. Unfair much? Yes, because it's snowing. Erin, you're great <3

TARA DONOVAN.

I know. She's so amazing.

And yeah, I wasn't that into her stuff on paper either. None of it blew my mind like her 3 D stuff. She's so awesome.
