Why I love to live in a place like Utah

My love for Utah (and particularly Provo) is something I think you all know about.

That love is deepened when I see things like this, because it just makes me glad to know I live in a place where this is not that abnormal.

We were driving down the freeway last week, when suddenly Chris and I noticed the car in front of us at the exact same time, and started straining our eyes to see it better. We were both gawking in silence, then Chris said, "Is that an . . . animal?"

We couldn't tell for sure, but I pulled out my camera and documented the hunt as we got closer and closer to the Ford Explorer.

And yes, my friends, it is indeed a MOOSE. I love it. And if dead animals aren't your thing, be glad I didn't get a pic of its still bloody backside. Believe me, I tried.

I also didn't get a shot of the guys in the car. But they were amazing--still in their orange hunting gear. Chris gave them a thumbs up as we went by, and they waved back. They seemed quite pleased about the whole situation, and we were as well.

oh my gosh! before i continued reading, i thought it was a christmas tree on the top of the car, and i thought "oh erin is just happy that people in utah are so excited about christmas that they buy their trees extra early!"

but a moose? that is WAY better! i would be so excited to see that!

You make me smile. Honestly, you are the greatness of laughs and pure funniness at work. That's why I love being there. Thanks. It made my day.

Wow. I didn't even know that you could hunt a moose. How in the world did they even get that up there? I need to carry my camera with me so I can take pics of amazing things that happen such as this.

I don't know how they did it. We were confused as well, because an Explorere is not a very big car, and moose are HUGE. That one was a small one, considering how big moose can be, but still. It was giant.

And yeah, I didn't know you could hunt moose either. Guess you learn something new every day.

Big crazy moose. I think it would be less suprising if it were excess children strapped to the top of that car. "My suburban just t'aint big 'nough. Larry, better strap the youngens on top"
