Sometimes I just suck at being a real person

There are several reasons why my morning was awesome.

1. Chris dragged me out of bed to eat breakfast with him at 8:10. He left at 8:30 and said, "Erin, don't go back to bed, it will just make you more tired and late for work and we have stuff to do before we go out of town tomorrow." (I don't work until 10:00 on Wednesdays, so I did have some time. And he's right, we do have a lot of stuff to do before tomorrow.) But because I am awesome, I slept until 9:30. And then decided I should still take a shower. I am awesome.

2. I ride my bike to work every day. I also frequently wear skirts. I bought leggings for this very purpose. I wear them on my bike, then take them off in the elevator at work. It's very exciting to see if I can get them off in time, before the doors open. Today, however, as I rode down my driveway, I realized--I'm not wearing leggings. So I tried very hard to be appropriate and still ride quickly, as it was 9:45 at this point.

3. I got to campus, parked my bike (which now has a real lock, by the way) by the duck pond, and started my trek up the LONG stairs. There were sprinklers at the top, and everyone was walking around them. For some cool reason, I thought they would just hit my feet, so I walked right through them. And got my entire front soaking wet.

I am awesome.

p.s.
This has nothing to do with my awesome morning, but I did love it. So as you may know from a previous post, I have been pretending to lock my bike up for well over a month now. The lock was cut off when my old apartment complex impounded my bike, but I kept using it. As you can imagine, every day is an adventure when you live like this. I walk down the stairs and pray my bike has not been stolen. Especially when I decide to leave it there overnight.

Last Friday I had Chris pick me up from work, and I did not return to my bike again until Monday afternoon. It was still there, but it had been moved. The lock was wrapped differently than I do it, and it was "locked" to a different rack than the one I'd used. And I was so happy that someone borrowed it and then put it back. I think it's so fantastic to live in a place where someone definitely used my bike, no question, then pretended to lock it back up, as I had done.

Thank you, Provo.

Well you better get crackin' on your Hawaiian vacay fund because we have less than a year left here! Alfredo will probably finish school next April. Oh it would be incredible to have you here!

Some people in Laie do that with bikes (ride and return them), but not very often. Usually they just get stolen. Even if they are locked up. It's like an epidemic here. But I don't understand the thief's mentality because Laie is a very small town, so odds are the person he or she stole the bike from will end up seeing him or her riding the said bike. Funny story: I too pretend to lock up my bike. But only because the lock is so rusted that it won't shut all the way. So on Saturday I go to take my bike to Foodland (we don't have a car) and it is missing. After being bummed but not shocked, I start walking to Foodland and see my bike propped by some bushes a few feet away. Someone obviously tried to steal it but then realized it's broken and left it...the chain completely rusted off long ago! haha but I still walk it to the store so I can sling the bags on the handle bars instead of initiating a hernia. The End.

I know, my bike is not even good enough for a thief.

Well we are not quite sure where we will go next. After Alfredo finishes his classes he has to do an internship. Right now he is thinking maybe Spain, Australia, or Switzerland. And after that, we will probably go to Mexico! but this is all just thoughts for now...

p.s. i love that you take off your leggings in the elevator. ever been caught?

Erin you are so awesome! If I could have an awesome moment for myself today it would be the fact that I took two lunch breaks and ate two lunches all within an hour and a half.

ps. you left your i.d. in the Print Study Room :(

What an amazing day. I wish I were that awesome. I strive to be, though. :) I really can't wait to see the Jazz singer in action. "There are two kinds of people in this world. Those who love Neil Diamond and those who don't. My ex-wife loves him." I believe that to be true. You're awesome!

Provo is the best.
You know what's also the best? The fact that you take your leggings off in the elevator. Couldn't stop laughing.

This totally made me laugh out loud! You are too funny! The bike story makes me miss Provo. I totally do the same thing at the gym--I pretend to lock up my clothes and computer and pray that no one notices them and steals them. I've had good luck so far :) It was good to talk to you the other day. Rock on my dear friend Erin.
