I love rodeos. I really like to go to things like the opera, or the ballet, and occasionally the symphony, but sometimes you just need to see a guy get bucked off a bull, you know? I love the rodeo crowd, too. Cute cowboy peeps who are decked out in boots, Wranglers, a hat, and a huge belt buckle, and you know that's just what they wear, they're not dressed up. I love it.
I also love rodeo announcers. This guy reminded us at least every 5 minutes that it was "a Saturday night in Lehi!" Someone would get bucked off, and he'd say, "now that's hurtin 'im on a Saturday night! Give him some applause, folks! He's not goin' home with a paycheck, so give him some applause!"
Awesome. Anyway, here are some pics. They're not good, because it was nighttime in a rodeo arena, but they're kind of cool.
Here's me and Chris

and mi mama y papa

and a guy getting bucked off a buckin' bronco

and another guy getting bucked, but off an angry bull. These rodeo guys amaze me. I would NEVER be brave enough to do this kind of stuff. I rode a sheep once at a family reunion when I was like 9, and that was the closest I'll ever get to being in a rodeo. The announcer guy was always pointing out that these are the toughest athletes in the world. He said, "I've seen football players sit out for a month because of turf toe. But these guys are gonna get up and do it again the very next day!" It really is crazy. A couple of guys got stepped on, and it just looks SO painful!

Oh my gosh. For the halftime show, or intermission, or whatever you want to call it, they had these motocross guys, and I was AMAZED. It was so cool. I made Chris promise to take me to a monster truck show or a motocross thing or something of the like while we watched this, because it was AWESOME. And like I mentioned earlier, I feel like I'm a pretty classy babe most of the time, but sometimes you just want some cheap entertainment handed to you. Sometimes you don't want to sit and listen to a symphony, you know? You want to gasp because you think the guy isn't going to clear the ramp. Anyway, there were two guys, and this pic is of BOTH of them going off the ramp. It was so cool.

And at the very end of the rodeo, they did something I'd never seen before. They let ALL the animals back out into the arena, all the bulls and horses they'd used through the whole thing, and they just ran around looking like wild animals. It was really cool.

If any of you have not been to a rodeo, please get yourself to one as soon as possible. They're so fantastically fun.

once i participated in a rodeo. some guy roped a cow and i ran to it and pulled off the ear tag. I know, i live on the wild side. Next thing you know i'll be doing something more amazing, like running from a sheep. Aren't rodeos fun?
whoever said rodeos aren't classy? what can get better than overalls and broken ribs?? honestly.
have you ever wondered why the bronco bucks like so? Are they trained that way or do they just tick it off before plopping the man on top? It shall remain a mystery to me. And I don't believe I can say I have been to a rodeo. Or maybe I forgot... An honest to goodness shame.
i told james we should go to rodeo. seeing as how he didn't respond at all -- not even a "huh" or "hmmm" to make me feel like what I was saying was important even though he doesn't really think so -- shows you how much he did NOT like that idea.
i watched a rodeo on TV with Cas once. i think that's about as close to going to a rodeo as I'm gettin'
